Blessed Sunday Week 35: Remember to Look Up

Blessed Sunday Week 35

Another week has passed beneath a universe that barely noticed.

Above our daily routines lies an extraordinary cosmos filled with stars, planets, galaxies and mysteries humanity is still attempting to understand. Yet it is remarkably easy to spend an entire week without properly looking at the sky.

Blessed Sunday Week 35 is our reminder to change that.

You don’t need an expensive telescope or sophisticated astrophotography equipment. Step outside when darkness arrives and simply look upward.

Find the Moon if it is visible. Identify a familiar constellation. Watch for a satellite crossing the darkness or simply appreciate how many stars become visible once your eyes adjust.

Astronomy has a wonderful ability to place everyday problems into perspective.

The universe is unimaginably enormous, yet here we are on one small world capable of looking outward and asking questions about what lies beyond it.

That’s worth appreciating.

Perhaps tonight will inspire you to bring out the telescope. Perhaps you’ll capture an image or research something you spotted overhead.

Or perhaps you’ll simply stand beneath the stars for a few peaceful minutes.

Either way, remember to look up.
